Git has become the world’s most popular distributed version control system. It’s rise in popularity is due to many factors however the learning curve can be quite steep for those developers coming from centralized version control systems like SVN or TFVC. My goal in this talk is to give you a conceptual model of how Git works. We will focus on the four areas of Git i.e. the stash, working area, index, and repository. Then will talk about helping you find your teams Git Workflow. Finally we will talk a little about Github if time permits. This talk is aimed toward new comers to Git or those who have been using it but don’t quite fully understand it.

Charles Lafferty is a principle application developer who has been developing software for 14 years. Charles works at ADP where he leads the ADP Developer Community. He enjoys working with technologies like javascript, nodejs, c#, and asp.net. In his spare time Charles enjoys spending time with his family, gaming, and fishing.
